Voila! Here is my entry for the 2018 Summer of Basics. You guys, I am so freaking proud of this. It is far from perfect, but the important thing to me is that I had an idea in my head for a outfit comprised of coordinated separates and I turned it into reality. This was not my original plan for the Summer of Basics. I made the pants muslin and knit a Tegna sweater (see photo below) for the Outfit Along hosted by Andi Satterlund and Lauren Taylor aka Lladybird. For that "along," you knit a ...

The One Where I Frolicked – Toronto Knitters Frolic 2017
This is the one where I frolicked.......and took zero photos. Wah, wah. Insert face palm. I am a bad blogger. I am currently on the Executive for the Toronto Knitters Guild and did have a small hand in organizing the social media/podcaster area for this event, plus I am also a volunteer so I did feel a bit pulled in various directions. Luckily I had the foresight not to sign up for a class on the Saturday. I've said this before but I haven't felt a strong pull to buy yarn lately. I've mostly ...
Yarns of March: Stash Management Update
Sooooooo....a lot of fingering weight yarn has come into my house in recent weeks. How is that working with my goal of ending the year with 20 less skeins of fingering weight yarn? Thanks for asking. It's not working so well. Not badly, but a definite setback to my good start. Two of my stash managements goals for 2017 were to stash down the amount of fingering weight yarn (I defined a skein as approximately 100gr) and to stash up the quality of my yarn overall, treating myself to more indie ...
February Finishes, Faves & Fantasies
It's March 9th already. How did that happen? I wanted go ahead with my February post anyway as I didn't have a lot of finishes but did have a lot of life happen. I only finished two projects in February, and one was just in the knick of time. I finished my first pair of self striping socks. It's true what people say about the yarn being addictive. I called these socks Potato Chippy for just that reason. This is a plain vanilla sock with Fish Lips Kiss heel in Knit Picks Felici (Ever After ...
January 2017 in Review
I've decided to post quick (hopefully) monthly reviews so I can better track what I am finishing, as well as track my stash management goals. This is also going to be a bit of a test for me to see if I can put together a post quickly. Aaaaaaand.......go! This is my first official finish of 2017. It is the Earl Grey hat by Clare Devine. This was part of her Tea Collection. I do have another skein of this yarn (Patons Classic Wool Worsted) to make the matching cowl. I absolutely love the ...
Crafting Goals 2017
I've been bad about sharing my finished objects here on the blog. I'm particularly grateful to Marsha from the Twitch & Stitch podcast, Jenni from the Lone Larch podcast, and Chelsea & Sue from the Legacy Knitz podcast for hosting the Project WIP KAL, and Amber from the Yarn Hoarder podcast for her Finish Up Those WIPs KAL. I was motivated by the idea of freeing up my needles for fun new projects in the new year. I'm proud of what I accomplished. It was a lot more than I thought I could ...
CommuKnitty Pays It Forward Game 2017
Happy New Year to you! I know 2016 was a rough year for many, and if that was the case for you, I'm sorry. I hope 2017 brings much joy and abundance to everyone. Inspired by all the generosity that spread through the knitting community last year after the US election (#knitterspayitforward) and during the #getyouryarnwishesgranted game, I had the idea to start off the new year by bringing the Pay it Forward game to my fibre-y Instagram community. Some of you may have heard of this game from ...
Updates – Rhinebeck, Periscope/Podcasting, Rib magazine, Generosity Games & more!
It's been awhile since I've posted here. I was wondering if I should bother to post this since Rhinebeck was now two months ago. I started this weeks ago and then got busy with some knitting related work for a friend. The best way to keep current with happenings all around me is through my Instagram feed. So I've decided to do quick updates on a bunch of things, that in the future will just be shorter posts. Rhinebeck Name Dropping & Stash Enhancement Periscope notes will be at the end ...
Knits for Fort Mac – Update
Behold just a small sampling of the knitted and crocheted winter items that will be sent out to the United Way in Fort McMurray at the end of the month. This post is to update people who have been making items with address of the United Way office that will be receiving our items, as well as a quick reminder of upcoming deadlines. I also have a wonderful alternative destination for those who would also like to donate gently used items. To read the original blog post click here. Reminder of the ...
Knitting for Fort McMurray
Calling all knitters! Anyone willing to knit or crochet hats, mitts, or scarves/cowls for the people of Fort McMurray, please read on. A police officer walks past an apartment complex destroyed in the wildfire in the Abasands neighbourhood in Fort McMurray, Alta., on Monday, May 9, 2016. (Ryan Remiorz / THE CANADIAN PRESS) You may remember the devastating fires that ran through Fort McMurray and surrounding areas in Alberta this past May. Thousands of people lost everything when ...
